When James Baker made his keynote speech in 1987, he stated that, “No longer will the World Bank carry this debt unsecured. The only assets we have to collateralize are federal lands and national parks.” Baker’s definition of federal lands includes Heritage sites, of which there are about 20 in the United States. I say “about” 20, because they are being added on a regular basis. As I write this article, Congress is about to vote on a proposed Rim of the Valley National Park that would include over 500,000 acres of National Forest land and 170,000 parcels of private property including many farms and ranches. At the same time there is a bill before Congress called the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act that would increase the acreage of designated wilderness by 50% in the lower 48 states. *** While our Heritage sites take in quite a large amount of territory, such as Yellowstone National Park and Mesa Verde, the Grand Canyon and the Everglades, other countries have much greater areas. Brazil for example has the Amazon Conservation Complex and Canada has the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks. As I write this story, the list includes 851 properties in 141 countries, comprising over one third of the earth’s land mass. Will all this land collateralize the world’s debt? Probably not, so along comes NAIS (the National Animal Identification System). WHO MAKES THE RULES—WHO ENFORCES? read more
The 76-year-old leader said the “white right” was conspiring to make Obama a one-term president, and pointed to his stalled efforts to introduce health care legislation as proof. He said those opponents and lobbyists were trapping him into a future war with Iran that could lead to mass destruction.
He believes he was invited aboard an unidentified flying object he calls “the wheel” where he said he heard the late Nation of Islam leader Elijah Muhammad speak to him.
From Breitbarts Big Government:
On Saturday, February 13, the Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church, Virginia – about 20 minutes from the White House – held a fundraiser dinner to raise money for Sabri Benkhala’s various legal appeals. (They’re holding an even bigger fundraiser in April, which may be attended by some well-known elected officials – more on that later….) Benkhala is serving a 10-year term in a federal prison for perjury, obstruction of justice and lying to the FBI. more…
Ever since word leaked last week that former Sen. Dan Coats may run against Evan Bayh for his old seat, various Democrat organizations have been in full-on offensive mode. Whether their strategy is to dissuade him from running or to defeat him in the primary isn’t clear, but one thing is: Democrats and Evan Bayh are scared at the prospect of running against Dan Coats. If they thought Coats would be an easy win, they would have saved their oppo files for a potential general election battle; instead, they are dumping them out to the media as fast as possible to try and keep him from getting through the primary.
But Democrats may have another reason for wanting to dump this info now, rather than waiting for the general: every criticism they’ve leveled against Coats applies equally or more so to Evan Bayh.
1. Residency? We covered that the other day in a post about how Bayh grew up in Maryland, went to law school and currently resides in Virginia (and has for awhile), and had to convince the state Supreme Court that even though he didn’t live here he was a resident and eligible to be Governor. But now newspapers are starting to bring up the fact that Bayh doesn’t live here again, like this…
